I am wondering does it matter if I buy chrome grille inserts; or paint my grille chrome; or just buy the actual chrome. Alsodo they all look the same or can people tell the difference?

Most factory Lexus grills are already chrome, its painted over. Try the search feature. I did a search for DIY grill and came up with:

I just did my grill last week. Took me about 30 minutes. I used some paint stripper and q-tips. Applied the paint stipper to the front edge of each fin and wiped off. Very easy, and it looks great.

Yep, this ia an excellent, inexpensive mod for the DIY'er. Did it myself in about 30 minutes.

is that the same for the black emblem because I want my emblem to be chrome, do I just paint thinner on the emblem?

i don't think there is any paint on the black pearl emblems, if that's what you're talking about. but it really doesn't take that long to strip the paint off, and as others say, it looks great and it barely cost you a few bucks.
