When I got my 90K I just got all the fluids, except steering, flushed as a precaution. The dealership said power steering was unnecessary unless it was contaminated...they just added conditioner.

I have changed my power steering fluid by siphoning out the fluid in the reservoir and refilling with Dexron III. This was repeated once a month for a year to exchange almost all of it.

I also siphon out the windsheild washer fluid and replace it once a year. I hardly use the washer; the fluid gets stale.

Powersteering fluid in our cars should be cherry red. If it is brown or yellow, flush it out with Dexron3 Mercon ATF, or Amsoil like I do. I am not a believer in those additives and conditioners. It does more harm than good.

I have been Valvoline Synpower PSF for quite a few years since until recently I couldn't get Mobil 1 ATF, but at least one other buddy has used Redline PSF for years and no issues.

ok i'm about to do a power flush on my differential, transmission and i think that's it.. do i need to flush any other fluids? i was gonna do coolant but i had it drained and re-filled at my 90k service and i know it doesn't need to be flushed because it already has the toyota red coolant, right? the rest i'm only flushing because i'm changing everything to synthetic..

so which fluids do i need to get flushed and does anyone have the amount of fluids i need to get it all done? thanks

No need to power flush the differential. Gravity is all you need.

thanks jonathan - weird - i just found out from reading your post while i was on the phone with my dealer haha..

does anyone know how much fluid i need to power flush and refill:

brake
power steering
transmission

for differential - do i just change it like oil? drain the old and put in the new?
the coolant - they already drained and refilled it with toyota red at my 90k service, when do i need to do it again?

thanks

Yea for differential make sure you can open the inlet plug first before you proceed, since alot of people tend to have problems with that bolt. And make sure you dont over fill since, well fluid dynamics 101

Diff fluid is the worst smelling fluid on the planet. You will ne to buy two bottles of diff fluid. The capacity is 1 and a half bottles if I'm not mistaken. Put synthetic 75/80w 90 in there

I use the 75w90 Royal purple. The 75w140 is about twice as thick as the 75w90 is at operating temps thus increasing the ability to lubricate at higher pressure (thats if your towing). Stick with 75w90

I recently switched out to 75W90 Royal Purple in my RX, but the distributor here also offered me 75W140. We actually bought some as well, but for big trucks that my uncle fixes.

Recommend you also purchase a "bottle pump" to ease reinstalling the gear oil.
