Default Torque wrench?

Does anyone own the Craftsman 1/2 drive torque wrench? Sears has it on sale for $48 (marked down from $74.99), and I'm wondering if it's worth it. The sale price ends on Saturday. Here's the link. Let me know what you think.

I had one of those, it disassembled itself after about 5 years of light use. Craftsman torque wrenches do not have a lifetime warrenty. I replaced it with an all steel torque wrench from Harbor, less than $25 on sale, IMHO, just as good as the plastic Craftsman.

I have one that I keep in the trunk. I use it to torque my wheels. Very good quality and easy to use.

I have that exact torque wrench and I have had no problems with mine. I use it on my wheels and it works great. I wish I could have paid that price . Go for it .

E-Man, do you know they have the same pricing at the retail store? Or is that price mailorder only?

IMO....every car enthusiast should own a torque wrench.....Craftsmen is a proven brand...plus you get warranty if it breaks.

I just got back from Sears at lunch. Yes, $48 is the in-store price (but I think you can get it online for that price as well). Sears also offers an additional $15 any order if you open a Sears Mastercard, so I did that. While there, I also bought a 21 mm socket ($4.99) and a 3 inch extension ($5.99). Does anyone know if you even need an extension to torque down the lug nuts?

You don't need an extension if you purchased a deep well 21mm socket.

Now you tell me.

Do you think I'm better off with a standard socket and an extension or a deep well socket? I think there are pros and cons for both, but what do you think?

Driving a Lexus and trying to save $25 on a torque wrench?

Maybe you need a Civic.
