Default Gs 300 Warning!!! (too much water when detailing - wet plugs)

For all the GS 300 guys be very careful when cleaning your engine I cleaned mine Wed. nothing didn't happen that night then Thursday morning the CEL started blinking , my engine started stuttering so I brought it back home and got to looking for info in the club and I found one from Bluelex about 2 years ago read the info. Made an appointment at Hendricks and found out had water in my spark plugs . It caused me $268 bone For a dumb mistake on my part. Well that's the same thing I found on this site very reliable info. Warning when you clean that engine don't use excessive water.

Sorry to hear that.. I've done stuff like like before.. Something so simple can cost you a arm and leg.. I always used to use a plastic bag to go over the spark plugs on my old car.. Live and learn i guess..

I think someone else recently had this epiphany. Steam power all the way. Glad everything is fine other than the pocketbook

I have washed many engine bays and I have learned.. The only way that you can wash an engine is if its running.. Other wise problems happen such as this one.. I am positive that I havnt had any problems if I leave it running while i wash it..

i think a fine mist would be ok. i just washed my car and i ALMOST sprayed down the engine but didn't because i didn't have a spare towel with me to cover my spark plugs.

I mist my car.

after that, i spray on the detergent (simple green automotive spray or foam). Then I scrub with a toothbrush and rinse it off with a low gentle stream of water. Everything else, just mist it.
