Default performance air intake question

I am wondering do all performance intakes blow out hot air? I am interested in adding one to improve gas mileage. Is it just better to go with a K&N drop in for gas mileage improvement; or will the K&N performance intake also increase miles per gallon?
thanks.

P.S. I apologize in advance, that this might be a very inane question, but I know nothing about cars, and am learning from everyone on here!

Just go with a K&N drop in.....that is your best bet for a cost effective way to possibly increase gas mileage. Also you'll never have to buy another filter again

search is your best friend, buddy.
Any intake which increases the performance will not save you gas.
But with K&N, you won't feel any difference. but it is a nice stock replacement.
SRT is the best intake for gs4, but you will also see your MPG decrease a lot too...

I have my K&N drop in and notice slight improvement in average MPG (from 18 to 19).

Exactly! and the srt ecu will adjust the air fuel ratio, more power means more fuel..
