lol, this is one of the best trivia games we've had for a while now. I really think he was expecting more out of the GS (ala GS4) than what's he's getting being that he's new to Lexus and the VSC.

Yeah, you're probably correct....his own perception of the GS3. He should also know that he has more avenues (vendor availability) for FI than the GS4 has...and cheaper FI upgrade unless he does the GTE engine swap. I'd go GTE/TT.

I don't think it is necessarily perception because he said this.

The GS300 is not a 400 BUT it is not that slow. If you are pushing it, then the difference between the I6 and V8 becomes apparent. When you are doing your daily drving light to light, the higher gearing of the GS3 will give it pretty respectable feel. There have been a few GS4 owners who drove my car and was pleasantly surprised at the feel. No, it's not a V8 but it is not SOO SLOOOWW either.

have you driven other GS300's for a comparison? No need for engine swaps, equipment to test 0-60, turbos, wings Just do the ECU reset on your own, and guage the performance difference. Let us know what happens from there

Or try putting your shift lever into L (1st gear). Perhaps your tranny isn't starting out in 2st gear.

That's what I clued off from his post originally. I asked what octane gas he's using...twice, and he hasn't responded. My guess he's using cheap gas...with high gas prices these days, it's tempting. I made the same mistake when I first got my GS4. I started thinking something was wrong since I couldn't get my car to "burn some rubber" as other stock GS400 could and the shifting seems sluggish. Then I read about the anti-knock feature; I think it's even in the owners manual. After putting 93 octane in the engine I have no problem laying a liltte rubber; the car seemed to come alive and the tranny even shifts better.

If the ECT isn't in SNOW mode, the tranny always starts from first gear from a stop. But, yes it's possible the ECT broke and is stuck in SNOW mode but I'd think he'd get some indicator like flashing dash lights if this happens.

I'm just saying. Perhaps the tranny isn't going into 1st gear from a stop, hence why he should try putting it into L to see if its really the tranny or not.

lol, lets start a poll and see who's closest to the correct answer... lol, I still think he just has a 'slow' GS3 now after the ECU has taken over...

let's just make sure-you said it's an 03, is it's in service date under 4 yrs ago and are you under 50k miles?

if so, quit worrying about it and take it to the Lexus dealer to be fixed for free while you drive their loaner.

Very good suggestion. Perhaps the tranny couldn't shift to first at all.

Most 6 cyl cars including the Gs300 will give you a 0-60 in the 7.5 to 8.0 range. I had a 97 Acura 3.0 CL, 95 Avalon, and 93 ES300. The acceleration in those cars felt the same to me across the board. You mentioned you had a mini van prior. Does your car feel slower than the mini van?

Sorry for not responding earlier. I have been travelling all day. In response to the gas question, I have been using 93 octane gas from Exxon. I honestly think that the gas I got was bad. When I drove the car home tonight from the airport, it felt a lot better. I will still wait a few days before concluding that it was bad gas. If the problem continues after resetting the ECU, if the problem does not go away, I'll take it to the dealer. The car is an 03 with 33,000 miles. It is under factory warranty under 12/2006.

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful suggestions. I really do appreciate it.
