Default Remember when gas was cheap?

Pepperidge Farm remembers...

This is a long-defunct gas station on Rt 70 in New Jersey.

I spent $63 filling up in Philly last week, used a CC, and the damn pump shut off at $50. My car is so pimp I fill up twice at the pump.

edit: One post below includes bad math. I filled my tank with 19 gallons at $3.31 for $63. The GS430 has a 19.8 gallon fuel tank. If you're only putting in 16 gallons at a time, you fill up 20% more often than you need.

What car were you filling because even at these prices it was NOT a GS LOL.....

No pics to prove it and I'm dating myself, but I can remember back in 1971 while in high school the Gas Wars, 25.9 per gallon for leaded regular. Ahhh yes, the days of the pure American muscle car. Wish I still had that Torino Cobra Jet or the Challenger 340 6-Pac. Such is life, things come and things go, then you die.

Don't compare the land of the free to those overcrowded socialist nations... It's our right to burn fossil fuel like there's no tomorrow without paying to subsidize public transportation or other public goods.

Actually, I wouldn't mind paying more if it benefitted our society in some way. We're just giving Exxon cash they don't have a use for becuase they're a low cost producer. Price = marginal cost. Destabilizing oil producing regions -> higher marginal cost -> expensive to floor the Lex.

Yeah I am being pretty confident...I guess I should be when I drive a GS430 that at 3.40 a gallon I never paid more than $52 LOL....Most you can fill up is 16 gallons or right around there depending on when you pull in to get gas...some people wait on empty more than others....he must pay more than $3.40....

I just paid $63 to fill up my GS two days ago. I live in south orange county, and there are plenty of gas stations around here that are more expensive than where I was filling up. You're lucky to see $3.65 for premium right now. Also, I generally fill up to 17 gallons because I know right where that sweet spot is on "E" meter.
The most expensive gas I have paid in the US so far was on Maui last summer, it was $4.20. It's even more expensive on Lani.
Wait to see what happens in Iran, if things head south, we will definitely be paying more than $4.25 in socal.

I have one very important question? Why is gas over $1 cheaper in Mexico? Boats from local US harbors are heading to Ensenada by the dozens to make their 1000+ gallon fillups in Ensenada.

The pump shut off at $50 for me too yesterday on Shell station. Why does it happen?

I just got back from Hawaii a couple days ago, and premium was around $3.55. Therefore, a $60+ fillup is very doable.

You think we pay alot...lol The european nations tax gasoline heavily, with taxes making up as much as 75 percent of the cost of a gallon of gasoline. I just paid 3.64 in Santa Babara and with the holiday weekend here I have seen 3.78.
