Question Licence Plate screw hole ....... HELP!

Yesterday, I purchased a new licence plate frame for the back of my GS..... I unscrewed both of the old screws (very rusty!)... And attached my new plate to the car... The first screw went in perfect and locked..... The second screw goes in halfway fine, than just slids the rest of the way in and is very loose and looks so gaffed.. If i hit a bump it is a 50/50 chance that screw will fallout so it looks so ghetto with one screw now and im extremely mad on how my car looks with one screw ... I think I might of stripped the hole while unscrewing the old one! .... I am so lost on what I should do, my friend said I just get my holes rescrewed.... Didn't like that suggestion, do I try all different types of screws for the second one??? Shouldnt it be the same as the first??? ....
im a bit lost.... suggestions?

Sounds like it was cross threaded at some point. Just rethread it with the proper thread tapping tool and you'll be fine.

It is the screw, the threads sound shot. Buy 2 new screws. I did when I bought my GS. The screws that were originally holding the plate on the back were gawd awfull looking, so I tok one of them to Homme Depot, matched the threads, and bought some nice stainless steel ones that look clean. I don't remember what the thread size was, but you can find them easy.

Where in RI are you? I may be able to help you out.

As previously suggested, check the old screw to see if the threads are bad. If they are, I have some nice stainless screws I can give you. If the threads on the car are damaged, it's a little more work, but no big deal. You can just put in a threaded insert and be done with it.

Let me know what you find.

East Greenwich, Rhode Island..... RI is very small... 30 minutes to travel across state..... Ive tried the second bolts that came with the car, they don't fit all the way in..... The new stainless screws that came with the plate are the ones I am having trouble with.... It works with one hole perfectly, and the next hole gives me trouble... (I trashed the other old screws out)...
Where can I get my hole rethreaded??? A dealership? Or can I buy a part at like pepboys??

You'll need a M6X1 tap...which you should be able to get at most auto parts stores...I had to rethread mine when I had gotten some plastic screws stuck in there (head tore off when I was tightening them)...and I have to drill them out. Just rethreaded them and found some stainsteel fasteners and I was on my way.
