My question was based on his original post
So my original question still stand in that I would like to know of ANY car that allows you change direction while moving ABOVE the 5-10mph that everyone is aware of. Then my next question would be WHY?
Wasn't trying to downplay his knowledge of cars but still have to ask in what scenario would this ever be done? Especialy on a $40k + car?

I wouldnt dare try to throw the car in reverse while rolling in forward. I guess it is nice to know that someone is curious enough to be so daring.

my first car was a 98 sunfire GT. i was always hoping with that car that if i went fast enough forward, then threw it into reverse real quick, that id be able to make my car do a complete somersault in the air, and land perfectly back down on the ground going straight again, but it never worked

toyota's are great cars... and i guess we see the trend that everyone came from sumthing of a lil lower pricing then moved on up lol... i had a corolla b4 then a celica alltrac turbo after that and then a camry then solara.. and now my car forever the GS4 baby!

I accidentally did that to my 83 corolla a long time a go. I was going about 30~40mph toward a red light with the shift in newtral position. Then the green light came on, and instead of putting the shift down to Drive, I put it up to R. The engine shut down, but the car was still moving, like you put the car in newtral and roll it downhill. I managed to turn the car to a nearby gas station. I freaked out for a little bit thinking that the engine/transmission could be broken, but to my surprise, there was no problem whatsoever. I just restarted the car and drove off.
The GS's engine/transmission is much more sophisticated, and I wonder what would happen if a similar situation happens. I certainly won't give it a try with my GS430.
