Default Good Price? 00 GS300 w/ 47k miles for $16,000

Hey,

I've browsed these forums for a couple of years, but never really posted. I'm currently in search of a new car and I came across this GS300 that's about an hour away from me. I haven't checked it out in person, though, but I know some details

2000 Lexus GS300
White on Tan
No Navi
~47,000 miles
One Owner since new, the owner sounded mid-40s - early-50s
Asking $16,000

I've looked around AutoTrader and checked out the blue book value to be around $18k. This seems like a really good deal, that is, if there is nothing considerably wrong with the car. Since I haven't checked it out yet. I plan on soon, though.

Does it look like a good deal? What should I look for when I take a look at it, ie. any common problems with the GS?

Thanks

I don't mean to come across as a jerk but If you've been around for a couple of years, you should notice that you question has been answered many times already. browse more.

check it out first, there's probably a reason for the lower price. also, a gs4 is more fun, you can have one for about the same price if you're willing to drive a car with more mileage, but if you've been browsing for a couple of years, you should already know that.

No hard feelings, cliffud. I just find it easier to ask the questions straight up than search, not to be a nuisance or anything.

I could opt for a GS4, though I'm not sure about MPG/Insurance (Of course, I could browse for that info as well)

I'm looking for something < 60k miles / $15-18k.....not exclusive to just GS's, though.

if i were you, i'd opt for the gs4. great reliability. just change out the timing belt, water pump, and ball joints of a high mileage gs4 and you'll be set. it will beat anything else in luxury and performance for the amount that you pay. i don't know how old you are so insurance may be an issue.

if your worrying about gas,, defintely dont go with the gs300 cause the 400 gets better gas mileage than the 300

Well, technically a GS300 is supposed to have better mileage than the GS4/430. However, the GS is a heavy car and for a 6 cylinder to move the car at the same pace...you're going to have to push it a lot harder than a v8. This usually only applies if you are a spirited driver . If you granny the car around town, then the GS300 will get better mileage. For me, my car gets terrible mileage because I gun it everywhere
