Sporadic and intermittent loss of power
I've noticed lately (last couple of weeks) that occasionally when I am driving at speeds around 35-45 mph I will have a sudden loss of power. It feels as if I downshifted unintentionally. It will last about 1-2 seconds and then the power will come back and everything will back to normal. During this brief loss of power it seems as if the gas pedal is nonfunctional. It doesn't happen often, perhaps once or twice a day. And it doesn't happen when I'm on the highway just when I'm on local roads usually in traffic. I was wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone else.

Nope, no lights of any kind on the dash. And I just had my 60k service done a few months ago

This started randomly happening to me last week on my 01 GS430 (~52k miles). I'd be driving at 60mph or so and suddenly the RPM would drop to about 1200RPM for a bit. I could floor it and it'd respond again. Odd. It never stalled and only seemed to happen at higher speeds.
This weekend I did the ECU reset by pulling the ECU fuse for about a half hour or so. It hasn't happened since then so hopefully that was the fix! Try it and see if you have any luck with it.

Whatever sparkplugs are stock.

If not already doing so...stick with Premium Unleaded Gasoline.
Also, I'd highly recommend adding a fuel injection cleaner additiive.
Lastly...and this is a must.....clean the throtte body. MInes was very grimey after 5 years ....and the reason the flap was "sticking". ...and after cleaning, my lag at a dead stop and hesitation during accelerating through a turn is gone.
Good luck.

I'll give this a try this afternoon. Thanks.

A couple of us had similar problems last year. The common culprit turned out to be the accelerator pedal position sensor and NOT the throtle position sensor (TPS). Don't confuse them. Do a search. It was a long thread. Question: do you experience the symptoms while on cruise control? If you don't, then look for that thread immediately.
edit: here's your thread. Your symptoms sound very familiar. GS430 cutting out

As I suggested...try cleaning the throttlebody first.

I finally got around to cleaning the throttle body. I must say that the stalling is gone and I've actually regained a bit of pedal response. It only took $3 for the cleaner and 30 minutes. You wouldn't believe how dirty and grimy that thing was. I went out there with an all white 12"x12" towel. By the time I was done, there was no white space to be found. Thanks for the suggestion.
