my friend with a 96-97 3000gt wants to race me ... his is a base modle and a 5speed .. and i have a 98 gs300... who would win??? he is a new driver to a stickshift.. he just got his license like a couple of weeks ago dont wanna race him and get embarrst..... let em knwo guys

base 3000GTs are not that fast. 91 92 base and SL 5 speed runs over 8 sec. I think 93~98 3000GT base 5 speed should be about the same as a GS300, if he shifts flawlessly.

Go for it. VSC off, PWR mode on. windows up. Spare out. You'll win.

You would beat him.. If his car was a SL stick however you'd have a hard time... I used to have a 3000GT SL 5-spd and I got a trap time of 15.1 seconds @ 91mph. Magazines back then rated the 3000GT SL in 5-spd at a mid 6 second 0-60. They're not really slow cars, faster than an IS300 stick and definately faster than a GS300... base models however have about 50-60 fewer HP and are very slow...

My dad has a 3000 gt 5speed and the best time @ the track I got was 15.5 @89.9mph I think you would win or tie......Go smoke the Kat! The stock VR-4 runs 14.6 in the 1/4.

both my freinds have 3000gt VR-4s one of them was a 93 with a few mods and another is a 95 stock. Ive raced both of them and I smoked the 93 VR-4 and I beat the 95 VR-4 by alittle bit although they look cool and fast there not that great for there price

VR4 is fast, if we are talking about 96+, I have raced 1 once, dead close but he beats me by 1 car length at the end, I have Torque converter too = P. I think his is modded tho, not sure.

the stock time for a VR4 is around low 5. pretty fast car.

I'd say get a GS 4-speed. You can "layeth the smack down."
