The noise started happening yesterday to my 2000 GS400. It happens when the AC is running and when steering through a left-hand corner,,, not so much around right-hand corners, but it's there. Sounds like it's coming from the glove box. It's a very tinny sound,,, maybe like a bunch of bb's hopping around on a thin sheet of tin.
Anyone have any ideas? What's located behind the glove box that could make a racket like this?
Thanks for the help.

Have you checked to make sure you don't have any loose change in the glovebox? Or the passensider door slot. Or even the little coin holder right next to the mirror switch.
If you already checked those then you might want to pull out the air filter to see if some stuff (rocks?) got lodged in there since it's behind the glovebox. Also, If you haven't changed it....now might be a good time to. Most people don't even know that filter needs to be changed
You can follow the guide on my site on how to remove the cabin air filter. http://www.ProjectGS.com/DIY
Good luckin finding the problem!
Oh yea, and welcome to CL

It's not anything in the glove box, or the door map pocket. I suspect it's behind the dash. I'll pull the cabin air filter out tonight and see what I can see. I checked it a few months ago and it was like new.

Problem determined and solved! My local Lexus dealership tech came for a ride to listen to the noise and discovered a plugged A/C drain tube. In fact, unbeknownst to me, the passenger side carpet was wet!
If you pull the lower dash kick panel off and peel back the carpet from up under the dash, you'll see the white, translucent drain tube that goes from under the center stack to the firewall. Remove one screw and you can pull out the drain tube. I used a blow gun and my compressor to shoot air from the passenger compartment side of the exterior drain tube and clear the obstruction. Assemble the drain tube and run the A/C to ensure the drain is clear of obstructions. You should see a puddle of water develop just inside the right front wheel toward the firewall.
