From reading the articles on this website, I came to a conclusion that I have a 2nd Gen GS and that I have a HDD based dvd navigation. From the previous articles, it seems that there are no updates for my car. However, there's also news that Lexus is planning to bring back the HDD navigation. Does that mean that I can get updates to my car now? If not, can I switch over to a dvd based navigation? And what are the costs involved?
Thanks

You're not updating the navigation, you're updating the hardrive (simply by switching it out with the newest version) so there's no way to update it without going through Lexus. It's less than $300 bucks but do a search. There are a couple of members who have been happy with the upgrade.
Good luck

I'm certain the new versions of the HD Lexus is coming out with will not be compatible with the 98-00 Nav. Totally different technology, screen, etc.
If you've never updated your nave, there IS a fairly recent update for your GS. Link to thread with info on the latest and greatest you can get.

Sometimes they're on ebay but very rarely. You can order from Sewell Lexus (lexus-parts.com) and get a 10% ClubLexus discount.
