Chopped up Aristo
http://198.66.52.43/inventory/toyota/i-161-parts.htm
This place has front and rear clips of a Toyota Aristo - I don't know how old this page is either, so I don't think there's anything for sale -
I posted this because there's a half-shot of the rear end - you can see the frame and such..
dunno, just thought it was cool~!

They do it on purpose. Thats how most cars parts are imported into the states from japan. They chop them up there and the car is sold for parts here for dirt cheap. Since the car is no longer usable since its chopped in pieces, there much much less import duty. In Japan I think after 60 or 80k you either get a new engine and pay a big tax, or you trash the car. Most people decide to trash their cars and get something new. Thus "we" here in the US get their trashed cars that are chopped up. Usually importers only take the front clip where the engine and dash is. Since thats where most of the money is.
That Venus Auto place seems like they import a lot of good stuff. I was going to buy a front clip from them, but I'm deciding to go with Jarco.

I learned that they have strict safety check rules and after like 4 or 5 years owning the car or some crap, the cost of getting the safety check comes to like 4 or 5 grand or some crap like that.. thats why they just take out the vin numbers and leave the cars somewhere in japan and just trash it.. at least from what i heard..

yeah, from what i was told from an old distributor i used to use at my shop (he imported jdm motors all the time). After 50k miles, they are required to change anything that is rubber on the car, gaskets, seals, bushings, EVERYTHING. pretty much tear down almost the whole car and put it back together. because of the salt in the air from the ocean eats away at all the rubber components. they either have the choice to do that, or trash the car. i'm not sure how true that is though.

I don't know. All of this about trashing cars after 50K sound a little unreasonable. All citizens of Japan must be filthy rich to throw away cars just after three years of use. And the presence of salt is also suspect in my eyes. What about California and Florida. Both states are on the ocean and I dont know of any rubber problems with engine gaskets and such. Just my thoughts on the issue.
