I don't think they will cover scratches. I've never heard of that.. Wait until something major happens before you file a claim. If you play around with insurance companys your rate will go up..

Well, even if you do file for insurance and they accept. To repaint one or two panels will cost like $1000-1500. My deductable is $1000, I don't know about yours, but insurance co paying $500 and then throwing me a rate hike is not worth it.

well, if it's someone else who did it and they have insurance, claim it. if it came that way and you want it fixed, don't claim it.

If your car was heavily keyed, your insurance can probably cover it. Happened to my friend on his Acura.

Now if it's just a few scratches here and there, they wont cover it.

If the panels are keyed you can claim it as vandalism which is covered under your comprehensive coverage, not collision. And usually the comp deductible is less that your collision deductible, plus a comp claim is never a fault loss thus it doesn't affect your rates.

Bingo...and maybe the whole thing gets keyed up before you tell your insurance company about it. New paint, no insurance increase, only the cost of the deductible.

isn't that goin to appear on the vehicle's history? like carfax or so my brother was to purchased this used carrera4 at a dealerwe went and check out the car and somethings fishy about the paint then we checked the history of the vehicle and it indicates that the car has been in the shop for a full repaint but no further explanations why-the dealer said it might got keyed and we left!

i was to ask this topic then, i did some resaerch as to conclude it might be better to stay with small scratches and forget the insurance.
