Default A/C Problem...compressor finished?

While at a stoplight, my GS400's idle started going up and down, then the AC started blowing hot air. Now when I turn on the A/C, as soon as the compressor attempts to start, the engine shuts off. Does anybody know what the problem is? If it is the compressor, where's the best place to get a replacement at a good price? Also if the compressor needs to be changed, are there any other parts that need to be replaced with it? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Most likely A/C compressor bearings are toasted. When compressor clutch engages A/C, there is too much stoping power coming from bad bearings which makes engine shut off itself. Engine running fine without A/C on because compressor clutch is disengaged at that time. In my opinion you might need to relace A/C compressor, it happends sometimes unfortunetly.

Good luck on fix
