Default Polished Headlight Lenses = Brand New...well almost

6mo ago when I bought my car I noticed it had alot of buildup on both
headlight lenses and I thought I'd have to replace them. Started exploring
my options here at CL and searched out that it was just buildup
on the outside of the lens and there were a couple members who polished
the buildup off and or - sanded depending on how much buildup.
See attachment for before and after photos.

Cant take credit for doing it as I have a great detailer who works on my car.
Had I done the job I would have ended up replacing both housings
not a DIYselfer here at all...unfortunately. Next step is to put a rockblocker
on both lenses to protect the work. Thanks again to CL and to all the
members for the vast amount of great information here. CL has saved me
on many occasions from diagnosing sounds, setting up and adding a
master key, to tips like the below mentioned.

Notes from detailer.....
"Attached is a pretty good comparison of the lenses before and after. I
sanded in the really rough areas, worked them with two levels of polish
and sealed them with Menzerna Full Molecular Jacket (a sealant)."

Yep, the polishing the headlights makes a BIG difference. Just make sure the sealant blocks out UV, as the sanding takes off the original coat of uv protectant off the lenses. Failure to do so "MAY" cause the lenses to start yellowing.
