Default Verge of Buying a GS

Hi guys, I've been lurking around here for quite some time now and am really interested in purchasing a GS. I'm looking into a '99 GS400 sometime in the next few weeks and am wondering if there's anything I should look for in a used Lexus to know whether it's a gem or not. Also, how would I be able to tell whether the audio is premium and what not for any other options like that, that the previous owner may have installed.

Thanks in advance,
Omar.

searched around a bit more and found several other threads similar to this one.
sorry, i didnt mean to waste anyones time.

Just make sure the car has its major maintenaince done. Other than that, the car should be reliable.

BTW, how many miles does the car have?

There aren't too many premium options that I know of. Navi, HID, Nakamichi stereo, heated seats, etc. All of these you can check right away.

I just picked up a 1999 GS400 with 81,000 miles on it two days ago. It is already by far the most awsome car I've ever owned (its my 4th car). The v8 keeps pulling, the ride is very smooth, and the car is luxurious. You will not be sorry.

How much is the seller asking for it?

the private party book value on a 99 gs400 with 97k is $15,850 so thats a great deal... especially if the 90k service has already been done

Make sure the car is not salvage though, or that it hasnt been in any major accidents. I would take it to a mechanic and body shop and get it checked out because that price sounds pretty low for a dealer.

Just make sure you can find all documented work done on the car.. IF it ever went to a dealer for work they will have record of it.. Also if the 90k is NOT done maybe they can knock off 1,000 off the price since its going to cost somewhere around that for the 90k service.. Before you buy it bring it to a mechanic and have them check the car out.. At leadt you'll get a fair idea if the car is in good shape and if anything is worn out..

Best of luck to you bro.. If you don't feel comfortable about buying this one just be patient and another GS will come.. There's a few in the classifieds as we speak.. Good Luck..
