Default Revving engine

Would putting the car in neutral while driving and revving the engine to say 4k-5k rpm's cause damage to the car? If so, what kind of damage? I have that habit. I just like to hear my intake.

Well, I do it all the time as well. I like to hear the car exhaust. Sometimes I take it up a little higher than that As long as you're not holding it up at a high rpm or bouncing it off the rev limiter for too long you should be ok.

Now on cars with lesser quality engines....I don't know about that

Yea, these engines are built tough. Free-revving the engine in neutral is okay as long as u dont rev for tooo long. I do that sometimes because I like hearing the V8 roar

if you must do that, make sure you wait for the rpms to drop all the way back down before you put it back into gear.

Can't tell you how many times I've done that in my old car

I also throw my shifter into neutral to coast to a stop. When the light turns green, sometime I forget that my car was in neutral so i revved it and threw it back into drive
