Default Q: new exterior for 2003???

To the members of ClubLexus,

I am doing some research into the GS430... I've heard from a friend that the GS series is ready for an exterior design change scheduled for 2003. Is this true? I was about to purchase a new 2002 GS within the next few weeks and when I heard news of this ... maybe I'll hold back (or look into a MB C32 AMG).

I know that the ES300 got the facelift this year ... and the GS body shape has been around for a few years (4, maybe?) Anyway, if anyone has reliable info on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes the design change should be around 2003/2004. Honestly speaking the C32 AMG is a great car but for that kind of money you can always get something better. For better/accurate info on GS prices, changes etc.. ask gs4will, he is well informed about these things.

derrcik,

the GS is on a 6-year model cycle. and the next GS should be here ~late 03/early 04 as an 04 model. i completely understand your situation. but here is my analysis on this issue:

1. the 1st year production usually has some little bugs and issues that factory needs to take care.

2. the price is more tough to negotiate.

3. GS right now can be had for a very good price, and just received the 'face-lift".

4. C32 is a great car. but i would never buy the 1st year production German car. plus there is a wait list as far as i know.

5.Es is very nice as i took a test drive last night. but again, the ext is not as aggressive as GS.

all these are, in a way, diff cars. so make your call with some thoughts.

C32 is nice but afterall it's still a C class. very fast C32 is still only a C. No matter how fast it is. I wouldn't buy a rocketcharge Focus no matter how fast it is.

btw here's superpocky

xsuperjoex:

Yeah it's super pocky as in pocky cookie sticks from Japan. I was once a Pocky junky and name Pocky has brought me many good fortunes. One good example is I met one of my x-girlfiend because of my user name superpocky. Long story. hehehehe good stuff

Default thanks

To those who answered --

Thanks for the info. Insight from other people is always a nice thing. I am leaning toward Toyota quality but c'mon ... with numbers the C32 is posting (and I don't have a wait time with the MB dealership near my house), how can I NOT give it a look.

C-class not 'good' enough for you guys? I know what you're saying but would you say the same thing for an M3? ('just a 3-series'?) In any instance, I will give a GS for a spin right after the C32 and will see from there.

Negotiations from both places are somewhat tricky ... how much should I expect Lexus to bend for a '02 GS430 (in Canada)? Thanks in advance if you gurus out there can help me!

Derrick,

C32 does post very impressive numbers. for the price, it is not bad, esp they do not have "US$10k mark up" like the M3s. C32 is plenty good enough for me, but i prefer to buy cars when there is some room for price play.

as i said, in a way, they are complete diff cars. for pricing from LA's point, a 02gs430 is~$50500-51000USD+tax+fees.(msrp $56200) this has nav+ml stereo pkg, 17" chrome+spoiler.

good luck

william

That attitude about the C class is dated, my friend. Long gone are the days of the 190's. You underestimate the C class. I drive a G4 but still, come on.

Default The dealer told me...

mission viego, CA dealer told me that the new lexus GS would be a 2003 which makes me think Model year 2003 which means production year is 2002 & available 2002. Can anyone confirm the year of the new GS & are there any pictures or specs on the new GS?
