i just bought a 1999 gs300 Lexus , my question is i have only one key , how much does it cost to purchase a new extra key from the dealer?

It costs $250 programmed. As long as you have one key programmed, they can program additional keys off that one.
You better get one. If you loose your only key, they will make you replace the ECU. IF the ECU had been replaced once before they will not give you a free ECU when the unthinkable happens....that will run you > $1K for ECU+ $$ for keys.
Fortunately when I bought the car, the ECU was never replaced.....I begged and they gave me a free ECU, but the damn keys + install cost me $600 regardless.

yep, I am paying 270 for my new key today and they are doing it off of the key I already have. Expensive, but worth it when you consider what you may pay if you lose your only one!
