Default Should I repaint my onyx gs430 to mica blue?

I use to have a gs400 Mica Blue (probably my favorite gs color) but now I have a black onyx gs430, and I've been hit 3 times in the last 2 months (1950 in damage) which I'm currently collecting but basically for 2500 I can repaint my car mica blue including the inner door trunk and hood. Should I do it? I know black onyx owners might not agree but to me there is nothing like the mica blue. I got way more compliments with my almost stock mica blue gs, than with my pretty well modded gs430 black onyx. What do you guys think?

go for it if you're planning to keep the car for awhile. if you're going to sell it, it may depreciate the value of the car.

i agree, one of the best all time color.

I agree with corkycal, if your going to keep the car, it's probably ok to paint and enjoy. If on the other hand, your going to lose the car to start the project over, keeping it a stock color will help it sell faster for a higher price.

Blue is gorgeous, so if your going to do it, do it right!

same here, do it if you are going to keep teh car for long, and make sure you get a good job to do it. otherwise, i would think again

btw, if you do repaint, pay the money to get a good shop to paint eveything, including engine bay, door jams, trunk inside, etc.... meaning they have to pull out oeverything

i am really surprised that you can get a full-paint job for $2500.
last time i check, it would cost about $8000. (from a lexus preferred body shop)

do you have black interior? it would be rare for a real 430 to be Spectra Blue. If you have faith in the painter, I say go for it.

Being a Black Onyx owner and a Blue Mica lover... I'd NORMALLY say to do it. But if you are considering selling the car in a few months, Im more inclined to say to just paint it the same color and call it a day. If you had intentions on keeping it, it might be a different story... plus, you wont see any of that money back. But considering its insurance money, it comes out in the wash.

that's what i was going to say. fullpaint involves pulling out the whle engine, the whole trunk, taking doors apart, etc... all that for 2500? i would worry big time on the paint quality

if you know you're getting a $8k paint job for $2.5k, go ahead, otherwise it's a waste of a good car, cause there is about 3 days of R&I (remove and install) for a complete color change, good 2 days of colorsanding and buffing and few more days of prepping and painting, $2.5k job might look OK on a Civic, not a late model GS ,
just my 2 cents

Not worth it. You'll never be able to paint everything the right color. You'll pretty much ghetto the value of the car painting it a different color no matter how cool it is.

I don't think a black engine bay would look bad on a blue car if it's done right. But you better make sure they paint the trunk and door jambs. Because that would look like crap on a nice car like a Lexus.

Right I agree, a black engine bay would look better on a mica blue gs than the nasty color we have under there now which is like a flat navy blue. Blk would actually be a nice back drop to the super charger pieces after you paint some of the covers blue to match the paint. I say go for it.
