Gen2 ML Subwoofer Woes
Sup ya'll!
Before I incur the wrath of everyone, let me say that i did search, lol!
Quick and simple: I blew the factory Mark Levinson speaker in the rear deck of the car
. Lexus told me they can replace it for $266+labor. I decided to search around first, and went to a local Auto Audio store. Before I could even explain my problem, the dude at the store was like, "There is no equivalent aftermarket speaker you can get to replace the factory speaker! Anything else will destroy the system in your Lexus! But. . .you can customize your deck to get two 10's and an amp, which will cost more, and give you better sound! And don't let anyone else tell you otherwise!!" I was like, whateva brotha
I don't want to go all out, I just want an equivalent (or better) subwoofer to replace the one I blew out. Same size, no modification required. Any suggestions?

have you tried carson toyota or sewell lexus? they are both vendors here
and i would definitely try ebay too, you never know when good deals are out
and also try the classified here on CL. a lot of people upgrade their systems and their old speakers are just sitting there

Well, be happy you didn't have to get a new ML amp. Mine crapped out on me @ 55K miles last year (just out of warranty) and I had to pay almost $600 for a new (refurb) one.

Ouch! $600.00, I so far have purchased 2 amps off ebay for 125.00. Installed them myself in 2 different GS's.

That does bite. I saw your post in the classifieds section. Well, having a fully functioning amp while my sub sounds like someone's shaking a box of Rice-a-roni is no fun, either. Is it true that there is NO aftermarket subwoofer that will work with the factory Mark Levinson setup???

FYI, i found one new for $219 I belive that is shipped price. Call to be sure. I'd also check Sewell and Carson.
