If I change the dash?
HI all,
I need your opinion.............
I have 2300 miles on my GS430, after realizing that there is a small bubble on my dash close to the passenger side, I am thinking changing the dash by the factory Warranty. However, I am afraid that removing the howl dash and installing it by the dealer my not be the same as factory fix and fit.
So what yall think? Is changing the dash a good idea? Or just Ignore the “small hard to see bubble” and stay with the original dash?
Thanks
Alkattan

Eh, it depends on the dealer...I trust the guys that work on my car at my dealership to do a good job...I don't think it'll be that big of a deal to change it...I'd rather have it right than know that you have some defect (that kinda crap bugs me!)
But I have heard some HORROR stories (here as a matter of fact) of bad dealership work...

they took off dash off of my 1993 ls400 to replace the needle for speedometer
when they put dash back on, didn't exactly fit snugly anymore (YOU can see about a tenth of an inch seperation from the dash leather and the front part)
make sure you hound them about this thing or they could just mount your new dash w/o a care

I agree... dont mess with the dash... Nobody ever mounts it as good as the factory. happened with my benz.. they had to do something with the a/c in back... they dented my dash... they replaced it... now the whole thing is totally off alignment.glove box, wood, where the pieces meet and join.. not good!!! not unless it is a major problem, dont let them touch the dash... unless you can make sure that they REALLY will do a good job. I tried going back and having them straighten out the dash, they made me feel like it was my fault that the damn dash was messed up. well.. but then again... Mine was a benz... dunno about lexus... still.. I learned my lesson with people touching my car... somebody once told me.. If something CAN go wrong, it WILL go wrong.

Thank you all for our feedback To till you the truth, the bubble is hard to see, and I am scared changing the dash. However, I will change it if it got very noticeable.
Thanks yall,
