Default 2002 GS wood steering wheel

Good evening all....

I found a 2002 GS wood steering wheel with airbag, will I be able to mount that to a 99 GS400? Looking at 750 total, then having it reconditoned to match my color scheme another 350 totaling about 1100.

What would it go for new from the dealer?

Thanks for the help.

you can get your stock wheel done in wood for about $400 by american stiches. they look very oem from the pics of members cars I've seen here. you'll also lose e shift if you get the 430 wheel.

I have seen the AS wheel done in my year and dont care for the look.

Will the 2002 wheel and airbag mount to my 99 400?

well if you get a wood wheel (if he can find it) from 01+ gs300 then it will work

however the airbag won't, as far as i know only the 01 rx300 airbag is single stage, which means plug and play.

i thought about just doing american stitches wheel, but to me if i do it, i want to change the whole thing so i have the chrome emblem on the airbag. that's one reason why i am still having stock leather wheel

I know what you mean too. I do like the more modern look of the 01+ wheel.

Henry, did they even sell GS300 with wood wheel besides the Sport Design? That's what he needs to find, a Sport Design wheel.

Actually, Im looking at changing the stereo to a 2001+ to take advantage of the steering wheel volume controls. Just need to be sure I get the right wheel to start. Im sure I'll have to take it to a stereo shop to change the stereo.

I have an 02 SportDesign. There's no wood on my wheel. Are other model years different?

good question chuck. i have no answer for you, that's actually my qustion too. i don't know if 01+ gs300 has the wood wheel option at all. but if someone with gs400 is to make that change (like me), that seems to be the only choice

98-00 GS 300/400 no OEM wood wheel offered. GS 400 has e-shift, GS 300 does not.
01-05 GS 430 OEM wood wheel offered. GS 430 does not have e-shift, gains radio controls.

Some GS 430s have the wood wheel, some do not.
