Have any of you who experienced a problem with the origional air intake noticed any improvements when using an aftermarket intake?
Man mine sounded like a small diesel earlier today. Really bad continous rattle at part throttle in first. If I new it would fix it, i would go with an aftermarket.

After your first detonation, I'd call your dealer and schedule a service; let them hook it up to their computer and define exactly what theproblem is....don't try to randomly fix the problem yourself by bolting on aftermarket parts; you could exacerbate the problem....
Good luck and keep us posted.

yep, it's been reported to them before.. their response.. no codes were stored
SOP.. obd2 at its best. .they can just claim that the computer did not have anything and they have an automatic out.
The aftermarket solution appears to be the only option.

That's CRAP. Not you, the dealer. Surely the computer can tell what is causing the dets. Try another dealer. Dets in these engines are crazy to try to fix yourself as advanced as the engine management system is.

Has the dealer been able to even hear the problem? If not - maybe keep a recorder in your car and tape it for them next time it happens.
On my older cars, that sound ususally meant I'd advanced the timing too much when I was messing around (or hadn't tightened the distributer cap and it had rotated on its own w/ vibration).... Gone are the easy days of diagnosing this stuff!

well.. they said they had heard it on others and it's normal
i guess i should be glad that it's real intermittent.
I just got an e-mail back from the service manager. His response
I would start with doing a fuel system cleaning, or a injector flush.
Hmm.. well.. thats pretty strange since it's interrmittent and since the injector spray pattern is not directly assocated with ignition timing.
