Installed Borla exhaust and Akimoto intake
My V-8 really sounds like a muscle car now yet still remains a Lexus. I am much happier with quicker throttle response and a nice growl at 3-4000 rpm. Now jus need to tune the suspension.

Akimoto Intake
Hello,
Where did you purchase the intake? How much was it? Did it come with a full intake pipe and heat shield? I have been considering getting that intake and the SRT. Why did you decide on the Akimoto? THANX!

Still would like to know why you chose this intake. Also, no heat shield?
How hard was it to install? How long did it take you?

The only difference I see among intakes is the filter material. Most current filters on intakes are made of cotton material. The Weapon R filter is made up of a different material similar to a special foam. I would be interested to see how each intake performs.
Not to beat a dead horse though, just an intake won't give you much performance enhancement. You probably get more looks than performance with an intake alone. The piggyback ECU is really where all the magic is.

There are currently only two tuners that sell a piggyback ECU with their intake - SRT and Weapon R. Neither will sell the ECU alone. DO a search for all the information on this forum regarding the two systems.
For RMM and Akimoto intakes, your only alternative is to sell your intakes and buy either of the above mentioned systems OR buyan APEXI S-AFC for around $400 and pay an independent tuner to tune the S-AFC to match your intake which will cost some more money...Fact is, intake alone is not that great of a performance enhancer (5-8 HP at most).
As for the muffler shop. It's Sweeney's Custom Mufflers, 1617 Sepulveda BLVD #3 Torrance, CA 90501 (310) 326-0611 ask for Verne. He does all kinds of exhaust piping- from the engine back. His work is excellent and he is a good guy to talk to. Just tell him I recommended him and I had some custom rework done to my Black Lexus and Greddy Mufflers - he will remember me.
