Default Headlight Conversion Kits.......

I know this subject has been beaten to death but I'm ready to make a purchase and any info would be great! I have heard that the Phillips Kit works well, but doesn't give the white/blue color of OEM Xenon lighting........I've seen the new 6000k kits at hids4less.com are these worth the extra money. What other kits are out there? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

On both Lexus OEM and BMW OEM the Xenons seem to slowly come on, the light seems to flip up, is this because of the auto-level feature ? And would I be better suited purchasing the OEM Lexus HID lenses to better authenticate Lexus HID ? And will the 2001 lenses (w/bluish tint) fit on my 2000 ?

Yes, that is auto-leveling. If you have the money go with OEM, if you don't want to spend premium dollar, go aftermarket. Aftermarket HID's are cheaper and don't always resemble OEMs. This doesn't have to be a "bad" thing since it is up to the eye of the beholder to be satisfied with the appearance. As far as the fitment goes.....you need to contact the resellers.

Globe, have you seen the TRD kit on a GS? How much do they go for? I have looked into purchasing OEM but it is a little expensive....whats the difference between OEM and aftermarket that make them perform differently?

No I don't. I just thought that 425 is not bad for an HID kit.

The difference between different HID is mostly the temperature at which they operate measured in K (kelvin). This for the most part determines the brightness of the bulb and overall appearance.

You can read some more detailed stuff here.

The kit was developed from TRD's JGTC experiences. High/Low beam on the same bulb (bi-Xenon). Pretty expensive, I think something like 1500 USD.

Mariusz - Do you know who makes the ballast and the bulbs? I've never heard of Eaglite and I wonder about the quality...if they're good quality, $425 is a smoking deal!

I'm looking to put some HID's in older (Pre-HID days) cars...

Eaglite
879 Park Ave.
Huntington , NY 11743
Phone: 631-4276036
Fax: 631-427-6112

You might want to give them a buzz and ask a few questions to satisfy the mind. Personally, I have never had any experience with them so I can't really comment. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input guys, I might just take my chances with the Phillips Kit.....found them on procarparts.com for $475.....not to bad price wise. Has anybody checked out those Stage 2 kits I found on hids4less.com? I wonder if they are the real deal......
