Default 2 different carbon fiber styles? YES!

i don't know if anyone has read up on this or known about this, but there are two different styles of carbon fiber threads now.. since Bush has bought almost all of the domestic supply of carbon fiber... companies have been forced to import this different style.. i don't know this information first hand... this is just what i've been told from ViS and my friend's shop lol here's the two different styles though (the hood is new thread and the eyelids are old thread) i personally like the new style :-D

actually, i think the tighter weave costs more so VIS is cutting costs....either way CF is more of a tuner thing. I've got one for my sc300 but would never put one on the gs

i don't think it's cutting costs.. i could've picked up the older style weave for $600 shipped and the new (wider weave) cost me $760 shipped...

just pick up the older weave and paint it over.
Factory hood is SO heavy. I had to lift mine up without the shocks installed. Got a workout from it.

There have been different styles of CF for a LONG time. All companies use different types of weaves.

There are different weaves of carbon fiber. Some are stronger than others, some look better. The Porsche Carerra GT uses FOUR different carbon fiber weaves.

There are alot of different weaves/patterns. Uni-directional, 2x2, 4x4, plain, twill, etc. I think that guy just made up some B.S.

You want the tighter weave. You tend to have less issues w/ them.

The current world wide CF shortage has caused a lot of companies to start using the plain weave. Its a bit cheaper than the double twill most commonly seen.

side by side double twill should ALWAYS be more expensive than standard weave in the same weight.

Both have had a considerable price hike in recent months....and it will only get worse

If you can afford it I would buy a roll and sell it by the foot on EBAY. Easy way to make some cash.
