Hardwiring V1

I've got some pictures I can post (perhaps others do too - Mitch had them) once I get home this weekend on that install.
Basically, you pop off the plastic cover over the homelink remote buttons and splice into the power wire. Ground it under one of the mounting screws of the homelink.
Make sure to tap the wire that is switched rather than constant on so you don't have to turn off the V1 every time you get out of the car.
Might want to post/move this to electronics.

Ryan,
Sorry I looked for but couldn't find the pictures... They were on an old PC which has since been replaced and not everything made it across to the new one.
You can check the old EZBoard clublexus site ( click here )
for the pics - thats where they were posted - but it will be very painful.
- slow
- search sucks
- ads
- search sucks
- content sometimes doesn't come up
Perhaps someone else has a DIY set of pics and can post them.

Yes, he still lives!!!
I have these photos of the install on my GS400:
Note that the V1 hardwire adapter gets its power from the mirror, not the Homelink. Green wire is ground and red wire is switched 12V DC.

Is it okay to install the V1 INSIDE the cover? Wouldn't that block reception or something?

Globe,
I believe that box is the homelink unit, not the V1. Take a look at the 'after' picture to see where Mitch has his V1 mounted.
I've got mine just below the mirror so that about 1/2 of it is obscured from view.
Wow, this pic reminds me I'm glad the prior owner of my GS removed those stupid airbag warnings from the visors.

I know how everyone loves pictues, so here is my GS400 with the valentine one. It is hotwired directly into the fuse box. No dangling cord to the lighter. Looks clean and out of the way. This thing saved me at least 10 times. Highly recommend the radar to anyone.
