It time to change the oil and filter in my gs 300. the original owner always took it back to the dealer for this service. I bought the car with 50k and now it has 52k on it. I was thinking of using 5w 30 pennvoil or should I go with a full synthetic oil? Will it make a difference? I was also going to use a Toyota Avalon oil filter from the dealer. Thanks for your help and suggestions

I recommend putting in it whatever the previous owner did. I assume if the dealer did it (unless the owner gave them oil) that they didn't use synthetic.

Many here will swear by synthetic oil, but Lexus says it's not necessary and doesn't recommend it. My advice: Save your money and use regular oil. More frequent changes is more important than synthetic oil.
