Got pulled over for my tint

Ur not going to believe this one. But my boss was driving on the Grand Central Parkway near the LIE in NYC, and got pulled over for driving in the shoulder while he was merging; but he was forced too because of the heavy merging. Anyway the cop didn't give him a ticket for that but instead gave him a ticket for his rear passenger windows being tinted too dark. First, the rear windows as far as I know are OK. Second, that's how his car came. He's not the type to be tinting windows. He's fought the ticket but the cop did not show for the court date. Quotas Baby, Quotas!!!

Celsior-
Any tint on your front driver / pass windows is illegal in CA. In fact, we just tinted my buddies BMW (3 weeks ago) and every tint shop told us they can't do the front windows at all. He got it done with a little under the table money but they aren't guaranteed or on the receipt.
I just called around to those same shops about a week ago asking for a price quote on a Lexi I'm hoping to purchase, they inform me front windows can't be tinted.
