so has anyone taken the liner fully off a trunk that has the emergency trunk lever?
that assembly is holding the liner in and i cant pull the liner off without ripping it
from the limited opening, i cant see how i can disassemble the emergency trunk lever

You don't need to remove the trunk panel. Just remove all the clips and the emergency release will hold it in place. Then you can swap the bulbs. Be careful around the trunk locking mechanism as i ripped my liner there. Minor but annoying.

it was much easier from then on

now my license plate lights and front inner wedge bulb lights (parking lights) are lighted by M4s

yes ive changed my tire b4 when i got a flat

i was just afraid to adventure and go break things because i havent done it before
now that ive done it, i know which way to twist the socket and how to take the emergency trunk handle lever off
also i was in a hurry that day, had to go to a meeting soon so i only gave myself 15 mins to do the mod, and didnt bother to try after that

i also fix things around the house and been building computers and modding ever since i was young
so im not that completely helpless :P

this thread is great, thanks a lot guys. I've been trying to match the 3GS license plate white lights. I tried a few different sets of LED lights (I thought the stock 3GS ones are LED), they're either too concentrated (hot spots) or too blue.

Finally found this info on the M4s, I just ordered some on eBay, and will post some before/after pics when I get the chance to.

not sure. I don't trust any officially released photos of lights, only actual pictures posted by others. I've had numerous experiences before with PIAA, polarg, and Raybrig bulbs where the color on my car was nothing like what it showed on catalogs.

Anyways, if you want to achieve the 3GS license plate look, go with the Polarg M4s, beacuse they're proven to look great

I tried the polarg m4's in the plate area, and they turn yellow brown after a while. Here is a pic of the 5LED in the plate area of my Rav4. Note* This is one 5 LED superwhite bulb in the plate area. This has the same look as the 3rd gen GS plate area. Imagine two of these bulbs in the GS plate area

I have PIAA platinum whites (non - LED) and they look great! I bought 2 sets off of Ebay for about $30 w/shipping. One set used in side markers and the other for license plate. Very clean white with a tinge of blue. I used to have red bulbs in the license plate area and it looked sooo hot!!! Thinking of changing back...
