Default Lexus is better value, no doubt

After having driven all of these cars mentioned, I thought I might chime in.

The E-Class verse LS430 comparo is a little unfair, because they may cost the same, but are not really in the same class of vehicle. While the LS can handle very nicely, the LS is a luxury sedan, while the E, 5 and GS are sport/luxury sedans (and wagons). The LS gives you a lot for your buck, though.

E is a nice car, though. The interior is dated, and a lot of the ergonomics are a little screwy (let's not even get in to the cupholders), but it is an extremely solid car. The new S is no where near the solid bank vault feel of the E. Handling is good, if a little bit muted. E does have the prestige of the three pointed star, though. Lex will give you the reliability and comfort on the other hand.

Like I said, not really a fair comparison. He should buy whichever one suits his needs more.

BTW, the rivalry between Lex, Benz and BMW is and will go on as long as they all exist. Speaking to someone who works in the marketing department of Benz, they said that if it wasn't for Lex, Benz would not be at the level that they are at now. The newer S-class is a big leap for Benz compared to the old one, and it loaded with stuff that makes that price not as hard to swallow. But still, my friend has a 2001 S430, and has had to have it towed twice. The interior quality is also not up to the lofty price, either.
