GS300 won't start when AC/Fan is running
This issue just surfaces recently! My 99' GS has been running A-OK, recently, for about 8 times in the past 3 days, Car will not start when key's in inigtion cranking. Nothing turns, no clicking noise either. Turn off FAN/AC, crank again, car will start!
Anyone has this issue? Please share and suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
chuck

How long have you had your battery? Maybe changing and trying.

hopefully for you it's just the battery. I wouldn't doubt it.
when my battery was going bad, if I tried to start while the power telescoping steering wheel was moving, the wheel would quit moving while engine was cranking, then it'd go again.

I think I'm going to cry
Right after I posted this message, I went to lunch. Half way to the mall, car started with strange noises, then slowly losing power, Battery light came on, and shut off completely, smoke coming out from the hood and stopped dead in the middle of the road right out front of the mall.
Luckly a local cop with a huge SUV with attached push-bumper came around and pushed me to the side road. Took me 3 hrs to get AAA towed the Blue Lex back to my local mechanic.
Innitial Diagnostic: Visible sign - the heat-wrap around the RED cable coming from the battery was fried scripy bacon style, the electrical smell was bad...
Battery holds charge (12V)
Amp: 600 at cranking
Alternator: clicking and kinda turns when crank initition
Mechanic thinks it's the STARTER
All radio and clock in vehicle are still hold times and setting
I have no idea and praying like mad that it was just a Starter.... Can someone share their thought and idea... what happened to my Spectra Blue
Thank you guys

With the info you have provided I agree with the mechanic, it's the starter. That puppy is dragging real bad drawing way to many amps. There is the slim possibilty that there could be a short at the starter solenoid itself, that too could fry the wire.

Thanks for your response and confirmation GWELEX!
I am going to have my Mech to run a Dino today to be sure we won't have any hidden issue beside the Starter. What would an OEM start cost nowadays? Labor is $90 to install, part $278.
Thanks,
Chuck

Great information Chuckb!
I think we will have to let this one up to my mechanic for both my wife and i are working a bit too far from home/garage, will take a lot more time and a day off from work for us, If I try to do this myself. But the fact that someone can fix the starter for $15 vs. $421 (tax included) to replace and fix this issue in my car is very disturbing for me Crazy but I think i will have to suck it up on this one...
Thanks again for the info. cheers
