Hi- a quick question for the experts. I have an '02 GS 430 with a navigation system. I recently had some work done that necessitated the battery being disconnected for a long time; I have since noticed that the compass in the top left corner of the navigation screen points opposite of where it needs to (eg. it will be pointing southwest when I am driving northeast).
Any pointers that anyone can give me on calibrating it?

Are you sure it's not the setting on the compass? Try tapping on the actual compass on the screen... it should go from N at the top, to your car always facing straight up with the compass moving accordingly.

Thanks for your response, but no, that's not it; I know about the two different settings. On the setting where the screen is always oriented to face north, and the position indicator changes to tell you the direction that the car is facing, there is no problem there.
In my previous example, if I was going northeast, north would be on the compass in the top left, and the position indicator would show an arrow pointing to the top right. However, if I hit the compass in the top left, the compass would point to the bottom left.
I do prefer the setting that you mentioned, but I can't figure out how to calibrate it to make it read properly.

Do you know how to go to the main menu?
While you're not moving....
Hit the MENU button, then tap on DVD....
then tap the top left of navi screen, bottom left, top left, bottom left and then bottom right.
You should get a blue screen w/ the navi info there. See if you can screw around w/ the settings somewhere in there. Also, if you hold your finger on the OVERRIDE button for a couple secs and let go when it changes color, you can use all the Navi features while the car is moving.
