Default Removed headliner (with pix)

Hey guys. I had nothing better to do tonight, so I figured I'd drop the headliner and take a look around to see what I could see. Here are some pix:

Yeah, I wasn't exactly serious about not having anything better to do. But, it's a long story, and I don't have the energy to tell it right now.

Bingo. I didn't take it off, though. The PDR guy removed it. I left my camera with him and asked him to snap a few shots so I could see what it looks like under there. It's pretty cool if you ask me.

could you see the crease from inside? that does look pretty weird. those sunroof drains look beefier than I'd expect. oh wait, are those the part of the sunroof motor? I'm talking about the copper looking tubes.

I assume he could see the crease from the inside, and that's how he was able to work it out. How else would he know where to push up, right? If you look closely at the second picture, I think you can actually see some etch marks where he was using his tool.

I don't know what those copper tubes are. Maybe someone else can identify them. The drain tubes are clearly visible in the second picture.

Wow, I was thinking about dropping mine and wrap it in suade since the cloth is sort of dirty. Do you know how much work is involved in just removing and replacing it?

I really have no idea. The PDR guy was able to do the whole job in under 3 hours, and that included popping a dent in the hood as well. I think if you know what you're doing, it shouldn't take long at all. I believe the headliner is held in place with a bunch of clips, pegs, etc.

e-man, just wondering if you know how he took the headliner out of the car? i thought the front or rear windshild needs to be removed cause the headliner wrinkles really easy. or did he just leave the headliner in the car?

thanks
Shane

Hey Shane. I really have no idea how he removed it. I know you definitely do not have to remove the windshield to get the headliner out. It's just held in place with a bunch of clips. I don't know whether he removed the headliner from the car or just relaxed it down. Based on the pictures, it looks like he took the whole thing out. He told me he had a lot of experience working in that area because he's had to repair hail damaged GS's. I'll ask him about it the next time I see him.
