Default GS4 Faceplates?

Hey ya'll,

i want to get rid of the horrible stereo in my car and go with a newer one. I have a 2000 GS400 and getting a new plate has proved a challenge. Anyone upgraded their stereo with a pre-fab kit/harness? I'd like to improve the sound without spending mucho $$$, I've got a newborn so cash flow is an issue.

I too have kinda wondered about taking out the OEM headunit. I have two really good Headunits, a Alpine, and a pioneer indash monitor. I was thinking about doing this, but the thing that is stopping me is I dont know how it would look since the OEM headunit is the big type, not the slim more common one. Does anybody have any close up pics of the OEM kit????

I got the face plate from Autotoys as well

You're going to love the AVN 6600. I wish I had gotten that instead of the 5500. The iPod controls work for the 5500 but they can be slow at times and you can't really browse. Great playlists are essential with the 5500.

They bypassed the stock amp which made the subwoofer useless, so I put this in to compensate

I ordered all the parts and brought it to an audio shop. I had it installed professionally because they thought that they could incorporate the factory amp. They ended up bypassing the amp because it was much easier. I would have installed it myself because it really isn't that difficult if you plan on bypassing the factory amp.
