Default ammonia smell

strange but true, seems when i first turn on my 98 gs400 a/c recently i smell a slight ammonia odor.......think this suggests a leak in the system? thoughts?

Leaking freon rarely has an odor. If in doubt, have a set of A/C gauges attached to the system to measure your freon pressure.

Maybe it's just your A/C filter needs to be changed?

Replacing the filter should help....Another member here suggested turning up the heat all the way at full blast for several minutes, don't remember how much time, but somewhere between 5-10 minutes I think. This helps clear the bacteria in the vents or something like that was the rationale.
