Default Fricken Clickin!

I have searched the forums but can’t find an answer. I have a CLICK (wait 4-5 seconds) CLICK (wait 4-5 seconds) CLICK (wait 4-5 seconds)etc, noise coming from behind the radio/temperature control/dash area. Air condition is not on, Dual control is not on, “mode” is in the vent/feet mode. Anyone have any ideas.

Besides turning up the radio louder!

Thanks

Dakrri

It just started this weekend. It does it if I'm going 0-mph, 10 mph, or 80-mph.
It’s very annoying.

I’m sure someone out there has the cure. By the way I have a 1999 GS 400

When I asked this same question, I was told it was low fluid in the radiator causing air bubbles in my cooling system. I topped it off with quick fill and it seemed to help, but now its back in full force. The fluids are still at full and the noise is loud as its ever been. I hope somebody finds the cure to this soon!

Thats exactly what it sounds like, "cumputing behind/in the dash" lmao!

Adding more fluid shouldnt have fixed it. I was told you can go to Lexus and have them purge the air from someplace, maybe the heater core or something. Apparently it is quite common on I was also told it should only run $15 or so. I have the same issue but havent been up there yet.

i hear you have to turn up the heater to max and then wait for the thermostat to come on and start adding coolant. i guess this is how you purge the air out.

Man, I have the same sounds. I just kind of decided to live with it. If someone comes up with a solution let us all know.

Several members have tried this and it worked. I searched and found a couple other threads.
My question is will the fluid not flow up and out if the thermostat temp is up and the fan is running? The cap says not to remove when hot.
I want to try this.

This on can suck. There are two possiblities that I am aware of that can cause this noise. One is the low coolant, if there is air in the heater core you may hear a gurgling sound. Most noticable when you rev the engine, even in idle. Second is the air box servo motors, this is what I need. You will hear a clicking type sound, and no matter what you do you can't change the sound. It may be constant or erratic. You'll need to get under the dash and inspect them to find out which one is noisey.

Good luck.

I brought the same noise attention to Lexus of Manhattan. Damn b#stards charge me labor to look at it and said it's "normal" because the car has auto-climate control so it does that funky noise.

My ex-IS300 didn't do that.

It's not normal, if your mode servoce motors are making that noise they need to be replaced. The micro switches inside and wear out and the servo moves till it hits a good point and then back again.

Talking

I’ll check the antifreeze tomorrow…that one sounds far-fetched however. No offence to anyone.

The servo sounds more legit…but I ain’t taking the dash apart and the dealership will just be the same old song and dance.

I’m from Wisconsin and bow/deer hunting just opened, so I’ll crank Ted Nugent’s “Fred Bear” CD and the hell with the clicking noise. Stick-um and Grill-um!

Have a great weekend everyone!
