you can just paint the hood and ask them to blend in the colors to the fenders. much cheaper

If the rest of the car's paint is in good condition, theres no need to paint the whole car for just the hood but the only way to get a perfect match is to have the front end blended like Rom said to the fendors and might aswell have them blend the front bumper so its all clean looking when your done, this is much cheaper than painting the whole car.

If in doubt, check with your local dealer for advice on a local painter.

The Lexus is a step or two above your standard "Earl Schibe" paint job. Most colors have clear coat.

You may not even need a full paint. There are services out there that will do paint "covers". They basically paint match all your chips by painting the affected area, and then using a polish, they polish all the paint of the undamaged area. What remains is a layer of paint that fills in the chips.

Many large used car stores use these services; it's much cheaper than to have a surface fully prepped for paint work. In Illinois, there's Carnica (www.carnica.com); CarMax and many other dealers use them.
