I'm assuming it was from the engine area? Possible small oil leak, and the smell is the oil heating up and burning off.

^yup. you probably had some oil accumulated outside the motor somewhere and you pushing the car harder than normal caused it to heat up enough to start burning the oil.

like everyone else said... check for any oil leaks, possibly around the exhaust manifold area? something similar had happened to me on another car where camshaft end seal plug was not properly reinstalled by the dealer after a service, and it leaked onto the manifold and started to cook

Drove hard, eh? Blown engine gasket possibly.

The 2JZ motor is pretty strong. Driving hard won't kill it. Not changing oil or running low on oil will.

I drive my car pretty hard and so do a few of my other friends. We all have 2JZ motors including IS300, Supras. So far nobody has blown an engine or head gasket yet.
