I have that creaking sound too. It is especially noticeable going over speedbumps. There is another sort of rattling creaking noice when the car is in motion and hits any kind of road inperfections. I wish I knew what these two things were. I took it to a dealership a while ago and they could not find what it was. They tightened a bunch of things that seemed to make it go away or much less noticeable but now it is back. It is very annoying. I am afraid to take it to a dealership because they will most likely tell me they found something very expensive and major that needs to be replaced immediately and I will not know if they are just screwing me and just looking to make a bunch of money off me. Good luck and keep us informed. The rattling sounds like the brake sheild but I checked it and it feels tight.

If the car is creaking while driving then it might be the upper strut mounts on the front of the car. the rattling might be the rotor shield. I had those two problems on my 1st gen GS300 and the fix was to change the upper strut mounts and bend the rotor shield back about 1" or so. Also check if the rotor shields are bolted in tightly because if they are cracked or loose they will rattle on just about every bump. I will keep you updated on my progress, or lack thereof .

It didn't stop in 2000. My 2001 IS300 also had it....so soes my 2006 Subaru Outback, but less so. It is more or less normal on many of today's cars with the way they design the calipers and pads. Usually it doesn't start for a couple of thousand miles and then becomes noticeable...especially so on cars of Toyota or Lexus design.

You are almost right........it happens only when reversing direction, but not until you touch the brake pedal the first time.

If you have the sound I think you have ( described above ), it's not broken to start with.

Go to the dealership and get the FIT KITS for the front brakes.
The parts person will know what it is.
And the shim kit. Start with the fit kit. And then get the shim kit if needed.

Are you speaking to me, or to someone else?
