Default Oil light goes on and off. Help

Hey fellas I got a little problem. Recently I noticed that my check oil light goes off sometimes, usually when Im at a light, or even when driving on the highway. The light is off for the most time but comes on a few times a day.Can anyone recommend what can be the reason for this occurence and what is broken if anything at all. Should I try changing the oil, its almost time but I still have some way to go.Thanks in advance to anyone who is familiar with this problem and knows what this could be.

Thanks I guess, what does RTFM mean. Anyone who knows what this is and can suggest something other than telling me to check my manual. Thanks guys.

maybe you should check the level of your oil first, it's could be the reason why your light comes on.

OK - there is a picture in the owners manual that tells you what this means. So go to your car, look at the manual and lo and behold - you shall have your answer

It means "Read the __________ Manual"

In all seriousness, I forget exactly what it means. Therefore I would have to go out to my car and read my manual to tell you what your problem is. That is why I am telling you to go out there.

I will check the manual once I get home from work, I appreciate all the advice.
Anyone else have experience with this issue?

DID YOU EVEN CHECK THE OIL LEVEL BEFORE YOU ASK? If you did, than:
1. Oil pressure low, reason for oil check light come on: Oil pump worn, engine internal bearings worn (expensive) due to rare oil changes and/or low oil grade (cheap oil?) low oil level, cheap oil filters used over long period of time, or being not replaced (some shops don't even bother changing oil filters at every oil change) high milage+some or all above
2. Foulty Oil pressure sensor

I think it is low engine oil level, but it is hard to diagnose just by internet, good luck tho......

Can't hurt to change the oil and filter. Then you're sure the filter is not clogged and bypassing.
