Smile Finally took off the rear spoiler!

A friend of mine helped me remove my factory rear spoiler today at his house. I'm loving it! I know not having a rear spoiler isn't for everyone but oh well. She goes into the body shop this Thursday to get the holes filled in. For now I had some color matched stickers made to cover the small holes on the trunk, you can honestly barely notice the stickers. I had to point them out to another friend for him to notice

Here are some pics..

How much will it cost you to patch and paint? Im in the process of doing this too. Im assuming some welding is required to fill the holes....then paint the entire trunk.

I was never a big fan of the stock spoiler. Spoilerless is a clean look

I was going another route for a trunk spoiler...something smaller.....the OEM style needed to be changed.

How many of you got an UGO roofie?

Thanks so much for the comments guys!

Removing the spoiler itself was fairly easy, the hardest part was removing the adhesive from all the damn double sided tape the factory applied. 1 whole bottle of GooGone and some throbing nails later it was all gone. The factory spoiler is actually riveted to the trunk, we drilled the heads out very very carefully. It took a total of about 3 hours to remove all the sticky stuff, but removing the spoiler was fairly easy.

I got quoted $200 by my friends uncle (who owns a body shop) to fill in the holes (led applying) and all the extra steps needed to fill them in correctly (I have no clue) and paint the trunk.

What color - I recently bought a 03 in the one year only Ivory or Parchment tricolor - it had a couple of 1/4" chips on the trunk and they quoted me over $1000 just to repaint (I hope it was the whole trunk). $300 would seem like a steal. The more and more I look at the various mod'ed 2nd gens, the more I see that the spoiler has to go and agree that a small lip on trunk is good. There are wind noise warning on the roof spoiler, but I kind of like that too. I could find specific example but the body kit thread is running like STP.
