List all of the significant problems you've had with your GS

We purchased our GS3 a last December. The car is perfect and has be maintained very well. So far... I have had 1 bad door actuator that the dealership covered, one freon leak under the dash (covered by warranty) and now my floorboard is wet on the driver's side when going on long trips while running the A/C. (bad evaporator core) $$$$$. all around 70K miles.
The car still looks and feels new. My wife would not drive anything else! I will just have to keep her in a newer one!

I had my entire diff and one halfshaft replaced via warranty at 22k miles. I've had many rubber door and window seals warrantied, a maf and a battery warrantied and my rotors turned once also via warranty. oh yeah, and they replaced an emblem because the clear coat was flaking off.

I bought my 1998 GS January 4, 2002 (almost 5 years ago, wow!) with 42k on the car. I had to replace an oxygen sensor last week, and the both front actuators are bad. That's about it.
I just put a wood/leather steering wheel on it 2 days ago, and she looks great! It's pretty easy to replace the steering wheel.

Hello,
I bought this 99 GS400 in June 2004 with 59,000 miles. It is my second GS400, as my first one was destroyed in an accident in May 2004. I checked the vehicle history before I bought the car, and discovered that the entire throttle body assembly had been changed at 42,000 miles under warranty by Bell Lexus in Phoenix Arizona.
As soon as I got it, I replaced the struts all the way around and installed a transmission cooler, along with all AMSOIL fluids. This included the power steering fluid and differential gear oil.
I did the 90,000 mile service myself.(timing belt, tensioner, stationary bearing, seals, water pump, thermostat, Torquemaster spark plugs and AMSOIL synthetic coolant.) Then I had to change the passenger front door actuator a week or so later.
At 110,00 miles I finally changed a driver's side motor mount. I suspected it for a long time, but couldn't prove it. It finally broke enough to reveal itself, and once I did it, the low speed vibration at 550 rpm went away. It still idles that way without the AC on, but you can't feel it. SO SMOOTH! Sometimes I have to look down and check the tachometer to be sure it is still working.
At 115,000 miles, I changed all 4 brake rotors and pads, as well as the parking brake shoes and hardware inside the rear rotors.
At 118,000 miles, I changed the starter myself and topped up the coolant.
At 122,000 miles, I changed the original battery.
Now at 127,000 miles I need to change the rear door actuator on the passenger side, and the lower ball joints. I will also do the tie rod ends and then the upper control arms and ball joints.
I want all the ball joints done at the same time, since I am now getting the dreaded creaking noise when going over bumps. The passenger side motor mount is a BEAR to do, but I will also do that and change the rear transmission mount for good measure.
I purchase all my parts exclusively from Carson Toyota since day 1, and the suspension parts are now waiting for me to arrive back from Japan on the 28th of this month.
That is all the parts I've done, and this car is a pleasure to drive. The engine sounds and runs like brand new, as does the transmission. I've kept it stock so far, and I really like it that way. It is super reliable, although to some it may not seem that way considering that list of parts.
THAT'S IT! Thanks

I bought my 99 GS300 in 01 with just under 16k miles on it.
The most significant problem that I had was a cracked flywheel. When I had it changed the flywheel was cracked around the center and was close to coming off. This was at just over 80k miles on the odo.
Other than that its the usual maintenance items.

Re:
'99 GS300 purchased in July 2003 w/ 68K. Now has 110K.
Replaced cracked evaporator core around May 2004 at about 75K due to wet driver's side floor. $$$$. I think it cost me around $1,200 - $1,500 with got 50% off the part.
Regular Maintenance Items:
New brakes & rotors at 72K
New shocks and springs at 98K
New timing belt & water pump at 108K

This is what my steering did
this is what my steering did then the bj collasped
bought my GS400 with 126k miles.
-Starter died 2 weeks after I bought it
-Right now the steering is very loose. The steering wheel is straight, but the wheels wanders left and right so I have to fight the steering.
-Transmission jerks after driving for about 5 minutes (fluid drain/refil every oil change)
-slight engine vibration at idle when in park, but could be due to many other things.

Struts - replaced with Bilstein PSS coilovers.
Front and rear sways - replaced with Daizen's
Front calipers & rotors - replaced with LS400's
All those stock bushings - replaced with Daizen's
Front Grille - replaced with Tom's VA300
Spark Plugs - replaced with Torque Masters
Wheels - replaced with JDM Lexus VPAC wheels
This thing is just costing me a fortune!!! That's the problem I'm having with my GS. Please tell everyone you know not to buy these cars 'cause they will send you to the poor house
And I know lots of other board members have had to replace the same parts themselves, and many of them even more, lots more than me - it's a crying shame

EV ftw!!!
I bought my 99 GS400 back on November 22nd 2002 and it had 32K miles on it then.
Car was owned by one owner and all service and maintenance was done at the same dealer I bought it from. Original owner just traded it in on a new one when the warranty period was over.
I had the headlight moisture issue appear two months after I bought it. Lexus replaced the headlights under goodwill.
The car now has 60K miles on it and so far nothing else has gone wrong or broken on it.
I absolutely love this car and would buy it again without any hesitation!

mine is a 02' GS300. bought it at 41000. now it has 51000. replaced 2 front struts, and supports at 50000. Delaer charged 1100. looking back, i should have gone with Bilstein, which should last longer and cost much less
another problem is rattle from door panel, and cneter console. my 98 Honda is still as tight as drum at 150000.
