My car is 02 gs300 with 44k miles. Seems like im having a starting problem every few weeks. Dont know what it is, cant figure it out either. I thought its cold related, but that should be consistant issue as its cold everyday.

i've only had my 2000 gs3 for 5 mths now. i got it with 90k
i had the timing belt, water pump, brakes , rotors, and s-belt replaced. i had tranny flushed and rear differential. i had oil leaks from valve cover and crankshaft fixed. all this has been done so far at a cost of about 1500 bucks(give or take 100) and i got 100k on the dash!

When I bought the car it was a CPO and the car already had the CD changer damaged but the dealer replaced it free. My hood cable went out but was replaced under warranty. Had to have the timing belt replaced when I had the 60k mile service done. Had to have one of my door actuators replaced under warranty. The auto-dimming feature stopped working on one of my mirrors, will try to have it replaced under warranty. Other than that, the car is great.

sometimes when I close my sunroof.. it shuts all the way then opens back just a bit. I have to fiddle with opening and closing to get it to close. Also.. when all my ac/heat controls are off.. I still feel air coming out of the vents at the corresponding temperature displayed. If it says 85 then theres really warm air coming out.. even though all ac functions are off. Don't know if this is normal.

Despite the love I've shown my car, it has never hugged me back.

so far, i had my 98 gs400 since aug of 2005. bought at 72k, now at 90k... all i've done was maintenance like brake pads, rotors, flush for diff, power steer, tranny fluid.
when i first got the car, i got a new timing belt since there were minor cracks visible.
gs400's have a S belt??

98 GS400
Fuel Pump @ 85K ~ $800 (ran out of gas, trash killed the pump)
90K service @ 105K ~ $1300
Door Actuator @ 130K ~$200-300 when I eventually get it fixed.
Drivers door speaker crackling on and off @160K ~ $ not replaced
Starter clicking needs replacement @180K ~$going to the dealer tomorrow.
Engine runs strong, Transmission even stronger. Most significant problem is I cant do an even trade on a 460L

First, I think this thread is very useful, so try to keep it alive.
I've had my '98 GS300 (3.0 I6) for *1* month now. It had 98K with all maintenance done by the previous owner at Lexus, except the 90K service.
... have not done any maintenance yet (the first oil change comes tomorrow at Lexus). It is driving perfectly now (quiet and still responsive), but am worried about the old timing belt. So, I've been deciding myself since the first day whether I should have it changed. Read though the threads, and there is some risk associated with not doing the timing belt and water pump correctly ... so I may just have Lexus to change all the fuilds and drive until the motor blows up (timing belt breaks) ...

Common problems with these cars are rattles in certain area, door actuator going out, vibration at 62mph, low idle issue on quite a few cars, and more. It's a good car, but things do go bad. Also, it's a luxury car with more gadgets than your normal toyota camry. More stuff in the car means there are more things to fix if they go bad. My older Acura legend never gave me problems like this one

I have a '99 GS400 with 100K on the odometer. The only thing that I've had to replace so far is a cracked seperntine belt. It does not have the most comfortable driver side seat (maybe the previous owner was a large person). Other than that, it runs like a switch watch.

98 GS400, bought with 70K one year and two months ago, now i have 102K i have only done a couple repairs. At 93K i had the timing belt and water pump done as perventative measures. at 101k i had the lower ball joints done. But two of my door actuators need replacing (both on passenger side) and now i need a front driver abs sensor, which is causing my Vsc light and Abs light to be on! the car is ok for the year of it, im not sure if i would buy another one though.

gots my 2000 GS400 in december 06 w/ 76k miles. only thing that i have noticed so far is the play in the steering wheel, which is only noticeable at freeway speeds. i can deal with it, but if it gets worse, i'm gonna have to fix it.
other than that,
I LOVE THIS CAR
