You don't need a little box when changing rear gearing. The speedometer isn't ran off the transmission. It uses the ABS signal to figure it. You only need to worry about tire diameters changing the speedometer.

You guess a little faster? Don't take my word for it, do a search. These forums have been discussing the merits of the 3.76 plus TQ mod for over 5 years now. Most people will tell you it's the best bang for buck mod that will get this level of performance improvement.

The 3.76 combined with a TQ mod have been reported to shave up to almost a second off of the 0 to 60 time. Finding other mods for the GS that will make the same improvement for less money? Outside of NOS, probably none.

I guess it doesn't use conventional vss then.

A stock gs4 with oem gearing will be looking at the rear bumper of a gs4running a 3.76 everytime all the way up to about 135. After that the gs with the 3.76 reaches its top end while the 3.23 gears will go to 149.
Also, 3.76 has no affect on the spedo but tire size does matter

Yeah too bad the rev limiter kicks in because it "sees" 149. Then again for most people I'd say they will never reach 135 in the GS, let alone attempt to find a stretch of road where you could sanely reach 149, though I've known a few who have tried.

I'm one of those who won't try to get it to 135 ... not worth the risk. I find the 3.76 ideal for those 0 to 60/70 stop light runs on the 55 to 60 mph limit roads

Yup my bad on this...was thinking about it last night "ya big dummy, that's not right!!" I had LSD on the brain (no pun intended)- that adds the weight. The VBM will definitely be done. Can anyone chime in with who is located in Southern NE who may have taller gears or the TC upgrade???
I am curious to see how these mods better the driving experience....

I've driven an NA Supra up to around 152ish before. 173rwhp of highway kickass, lol. I'm sure the GS400 can get up there sooner.
