Guess it might make it easier to steal but then again that is what the alarm is for. Actually either way insurance would cover it. The shock unit is also great. I have caught 3 people that bumped my car or opend their doors and hit my car due to me hearing the alarm now that it has the shock unit.
Do tell.... this is very interesting to me. I do not understand how one could be so easy to install and the other next to imposible. I have been thinking of installing a remote start in my wifes car. (I wont say what brand).
Can you give more info about the one you installed that took 30 minutes? Is it just sens-o-shock and can you put an immobilizer unit in the circuit cause I do not feel comfortable with leaving a Key in the car.

Thanks,

The remote start works flawlessly and does not require a separate remote. I currently have it set to activate with 2 unlock pulses. If only I could increase the range of the remote!!! I don't really have the time to do a full PDF write-up and step by step install right now but I will do my best to answer any technical questions anyone might have regarding installing one of these. It would be a terrible waste to keep it all to myself.
Nice detail... I love the pictures. Is the install manual in electronic format? Could you share?

I am a little confused if there are other remote starts that are easier to install and why you did not pick one that is easier.

It is always easier to second guess afterwards and I am only trying to learn through you.

I installed my own alarm as well. It was a real pain lol. It took me about 3-4 days to install my alarm. Then again that was the first time I've EVER installed an alarm in my life. Everything went in flawlessly and all the system work great. The hardest part was finding the correct wires and all, but now that I know where they all are...I can probably hook up an alarm in about a day. I have the Autopage RS1000 alarm. It has a color OLED display and a 1 mile rage. Obviously that 1mile rating is only if you're waaay out in an open field with no objects in between you and the car. Realistically I get about 1/4 mile 2 way paging in dense urban areas but still that's much much better than the paltry 20-30ft of the factory remote.

I have also found this to work very well. For some reason, my lexus key has really crappy range (like 20 feet?) even after I replace the battery. I would def. have to go with a new remote for the starter. I'll most likely get one before it gets cold.

lol, just like how if you lock your keys in the car but your spouse has the spare at work, you can have them press the unlock button over the cell phone and it will unlock?

The chin trick works. I did not believe it until I tried it once. I got about 1/8 range and i was very surprised. I was on a bridge and my car was in a parking lot below. I didn't remember if I locked the car or not so I was wildly waving my arm around and pressing the lock button. It didn't work so I tried putting the key part on my chin and the car blinked once. I have no idea how it worked but it worked at about 1/8 mile range lol.
